A Whole Lot of Ketchup?

Goodness.  I’ve got some catching up to do.  Here goes.

Friday night me and Tim went on a date AGAIN.  Strange goings-on around here I tell ya. Instead of doing the typical date thing, we finally got to get our new tattoos.  Don’t judge just yet.  There are people out there who go and tattoo leopard print all over their faces and such, and far be it for me to judge them.  To each his own, but I am not one of those people.  Each and every one of them has a meaning, right down to the color.  Anyway, since we are 100% done having kids, I was in the position to get my official mom tattoo.  I’ve been “deciding” on it since we started procreating, so a ton of thought has gone into this one.  The symbol is a Triskele, which is Celtic in origin and has many different meanings, one of which is the three trimesters of pregnancy.  Kind of a motherhood symbol, if you will.  The letters worked into the three “legs” are my children’s first initials.  Yes, I know the “L” is a little screwy and kind of looks like a shoe off of one of Santa’s helpers.  I’m going to get it tweaked a bit as soon as I get the chance.  Even so, this is by far my favorite.  I have 5 others, which all have a different significance and sentimental value.  You don’t have to tell me I’m pasty or that I have a strange look on my face, either.  I know this.  So, without further adieu…

Next!

Saturday, I got a real shocker.  When I was writing my post for that day I never imagined getting a comment that announced that I had received an award.  How sad is it that I got all nervous and sweaty-palmed and giddy?  I am so not exaggerating.  It’s so exciting to find out someone likes your blog enough to give you an award.  So I’m feeling like Sally Field at the Oscars in ’84.  Wanna see it?  Okay!

Here are the rules you have to abide by upon accepting this particular gem.

1. Thank the person who gave you the award.

I’ve already thanked her nearly to death, but it’s only fitting that I do it right here for everyone to see. Thank you very very much Lanned.  You quite seriously started my Saturday off with a bang.  Lanned is the author of FTF (Fighting to Function) and she graciously offered this award to me.  What a sweetheart.
2. Share ten things about yourself

This is a tough one.  Let me think…

  1. I’m going bald.
  2. I have serious control issues.
  3. Every time I have ever started a job, I almost immediately got pregnant and had to quit said job because me and pregnant don’t mix.
  4. I had PPD with my first baby, and if anybody want’s to comment on that go right ahead.
  5. I have had liposuction.  Didn’t work out too well, now did it?
  6. I once went skiing right off a jagged rocky cliff and lived to blog about it.
  7. I smoke too much, eat too much and don’t exercise too much.
  8. I have an extreme fear of death.
  9. I was once ambushed and attacked by moths and had to end them with a vaccuum hose.
  10. My dad threw me into a moving ceiling fan when I was a baby.

3. Pass the award along to 10 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic!

  1. Dinomomma
  2. The Life of a Sippy Cup Mom
  3. O My Family
  4. The SAHM Project
  5. Move Over Mary Poppins
  6. Stir Fry Awesomeness
  7. Days on the Creek
  8. Things I Can’t Say
  9. Real Life With Kids
  10. Best of Fates

4. Contact the bloggers and let them know you’ve picked them for the award.

I’m on it!  DONE!!!

Thank you again Lanned.  You are awesome!

All the fathers in my life have no interest whatsoever in this blog, so phooey on them.  I have no intentions of writing an entire post dedicated to dudes who don’t visit here and will never see it, but…Happy Father’s Day guys!  I love you all so very much! xoxo

Phew!  I’m out.

I do too! The L on paper looked cool but then when you look at it in comparison with the B and C, it comes up lacking I think.

Love you too!

i absolutely love your tattoo as well as the meaning of it. i love tattoos and have 19 myself. :D

my favorite “family” tattoo is on my right foot. There are 6 stars, the first is only an outline and represents our marriage, green star for the hubs, blue for me, purple for my oldest son, red for my second son, and pink for my daughter. the colors represent our birthstone.

Roxane June 21, 2010 at

Thank you! I’ve been waiting a really long time for it, and it was totally worth the wait.

Stars the color of your birthstones is GENIUS. I thought about getting one on my foot but I am way too chicken. 19? They are addictive aren’t they.

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely pass it on (probably combined with my Wednesday Blogger Crush) and OMG, there’s 7 other blogs on your list that I’m not already following so I have more new-to-me persons to stalk! See you all soon…*maniacal laughter*

And your welcome. I owed you one, anyway ;)

Oh my! My first award!! And my awesome cool button that I am in the process of one handily placing on right-effing-now! You’re amazing!!

Why one hand? Nevermind, don’t tell me, I don’t want to know. Unless it’s innocent and my mind being in the gutter is completely unvalidated.

First awards are awesome, huh? It was my first, too! Yay for us!

Awwww. Thanks for that. I think you deserve it. Seriously.

Wow, congratulations on the award – and the tattoo, of course. I like it when people chose tattoos that mean something to them (and only to them). I mean, if I saw you on the street and looked at your tattoo, I would just see something nice in black. It looks good and is not over the top. But it also has a meaning to you and that is the real great thing about it.
And now the big question (sorry, must be annyoing, but I just HAVE to ask, because I have a voucher to get a tattoo, but I’m just toooo scared): Did it hurt? And if so, how strong was the pain?
Have a good week!
xo Sabrina

Thank you! Lots of people use tattoos as art, and I have a lot of respect for that, but if I’m going to get one there’s going to have to be a REALLY good reason.

If anybody tells you it doesn’t hurt, they’re lying through their teeth. It hurts bad. But…after a little while you get sort of used to it or you figure out how to block it or something. It’s not an unbearable pain, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. You can also ask them to use the bactine with lidocaine. I think it’s a spray? That helps a LOT.

Have a great week yourself!

I love the tattoo! I’ve been planning mine for years! I think when I get to my goal weight, I’m going to get it!

You’re very welcome and thank you. I’ll be over later.

I am pretty happy with it. I so love that you said “when” you reach your goal weight and not “if.” What a trooper you are!

Love you!

Roxane,
1. LOVE the tattoo! What an awesome idea! I got my only tattoo when I was 17 and slightly drunk. (is that like slightly pregnant?)
2. THANK YOU! so much for the amazing honor! You have been an inspiration to me writing my blog and your comments and visits have been so encouraging and fun.
3. Can’t wait to blog about this! :)
Thanks again!

IMHO, there is no such thing as “slightly pregnant,” but that’s just me ;) I have one of those tattoos but I got tipsy in preparation (which is frowned upon).

You’re welcome! I love your blog. I thought you deserved it.

Me? Inspiring?! Friggin AWESOME!

Can’t wait to read your blog about it.

I went through PPD with my first baby, too.

Sorry the lipo didn’t go well. That’s the one type of surgery I’d love to have.

Reply

Roxane June 21, 2010 at

Actually, the lipo went really well. It was me who ate the house afterwards and blew myslef back up.

PPD sucks. Period.

I love the tattoo! I’m planning my mommy one too. :) Just have to decide on a good spot for it.

Reply

Roxane June 21, 2010 at

Thank you! It’s been a long time coming.

Deciding where to put it was what held me up the longest. I am happy with the location and I’m glad I took the time to really think it through. Those things are PERMANENT you know.

Be sure and let me know when you do and post pictures. I would love to see. Unless it’s in an unmentionable area. In that case I so don’t want to see pictures ;)

Love the tat! I’ve been needing to add onto mine right in the same spot as yours, except mine is a tiny butterfly cause I was such a big fat baby and didn’t want to go bigger but now I do….fun award…congrats:)

Reply

Roxane June 22, 2010 at

Thank you thank you! Just because it’s little doesn’t mean you were a big fat baby. It just means you were leaving room for creative artistic expansion later in life ;)

This post made me laugh! Yes, phooey on those dads! My husband doesn’t read mine either (I am assuming you meant your husband, too…), the little fart! Oh, he has a few times. Anyway, THANKS for becoming a recent follower of mine! My blog is a bit wacky but I see you have a good sense of humor. We ate all set to be blog BFFs. My initials (for your next tattoo) are: KDN. Thanks!!

I think the hubs might be just a little jealous. I asked him to do a guest post to see if I could trick him into becoming a fan. He looked flattered so I think I might be on the right track. Tee Hee.

Wacky is good! KDN. Got it!

GIRL! That tattoo is fantastic. I have zero myself, but the one thing I would consider getting would be a mama one. When we’re done, of course.

Thank you for the award! You are too sweet (bah dum ch!)! I’m excited to keep up with you on here and twitter, as well as peek around the other awarded blogs. I’m honored you thought of me!

Your response to all that mayhem (you know what I’m talking about) was what reeled me in. I officially fell in love with your blog at that moment.

You’re welcome. I thought you could probably use one ;)

Mom tattoos are definitely a good way to go if you don’t have any.

Sorry for the badgering by the way. I’m good with overkill. Glad you like it!

Congrats on your award and thanks for passing it on to me! Your new tat is pretty awesome. I’m an ink free wimp, btw but I bet you guessed that already.

Reply

Roxane June 23, 2010 at

Thank you and you’re welcome! And thank you again. No, I would’ve never guessed wimp, but just because you ink-less doesn’t qualify you as one. It just means you don’t want a tattoo. (Maybe?) Even if you are wimpy, I still love love love you!

That tattoo is awesome. Awesome awesome awesome.

And thank you. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.

I’m super undeserving – as proved by the fact that once you so generously gave me this award I dropped off the face of the internet for weeks.

I don’t pass along award, b/c it makes me feel like I’m choosing kids for kickball and while I’ve never gone to school that actually had scenes like that, I’ve watched my fair share of ’80s movies, so know the pain that can result.

But I wanted to say thank you.

So Thank You.

You’re pretty awesome all the way around.

Your welcome! I understand the “choosing kids for kickball” thing. It really does feel like that sometimes. And yes, you are deserving. I wouldn’t have given it to you if you weren’t. Everybody deserves to take a bloggy break every now and then. You’re a sweetie and pretty awesome yourself ;)
